Jacquie + Brent | Wedding Day | Georgian Bay, ON
On September 16, 2017, Jacquie & Brent exchanged their vows underneath a canopy of a mature willow tree, with the stunning Georgian Bay behind them, surrounded by their closest friends and family.
When planning their wedding day, Jacquie & Brent aspired to create a day that symbolized love, connection, celebration, community, and intentionality — and they certainly succeeded. Every detail of the day was intentional and meaningful. Their day was appropriately called, “Love Fest”.
All events of the day took place on a gorgeous lakefront property, in Port McNicoll, Ontario. This property has been in Brent’s family for generations, and where he has a lifetime of memories and where he and Jacquie started to create their own with their son, Hayden.
Turning this rustic property into a “Love Fest” was a labour of love, performed by Brent who built the dance floor, stage, and deck platform where they got married, and even created the beach front, and the beach bar (!!) — Just for their special day.
In the spirit of community, all the decorations and set up were done by many pairs of caring hands, of Jacquie & Brent’s family and friends. Jacquie’s aunt made their table cloths and the “Love Fest” flags.
Jacquie’s closest and favourite uncle officiated the ceremony, and J&B’s son, Hayden, was held in his mom’s arms throughout the ceremony — symbolic of not just two people committing themselves to each other but to their family of three.
Following the ceremony, guests walked only a few steps to the beach front, where they got to enjoy their cocktails, served via the Beach Bar, during a stunning, end-of-summer golden hour.
Dinner was served in laidback fashion, via food truck’s serving fresh food for several hours, allowing guests to decide when they wanted to eat. A variety of Mexican street food was provided by Gourmet Gringos, and dessert, by a local Ice cream Truck!
As the sun began to set, string lights hung around the property lit up, and the band “The Intentions” began to play, providing guests live music to dance to all night long — and they certainly did! The celebration was still alive and vibrant when I left at 11:00pm, which is exactly how your day should be.
This wedding is on my ‘top 3 Best weddings’ list. It had everything that I view as important for a wedding day: intimate — only the absolutely closest friends and family, intentionally laidback (not to be confused with lazy/careless laidback), emphasis on community, connection, love, and celebration, known officiant (vs stranger), dancing under the stars, lakefront views, DELICIOUS food served food truck style (vs. several course sit down meal), poetry by the bride, and LIVE MUSIC!!!
