Intimate Couples Shoot
A summer lakeside intimate couples photoshoot in Barrie, Ontario.
I have been a long time admirer of the photographer @chuyphotos who photographs couples from all across North America in their purest form. His photos are raw, intimate, vulnerable, and INCREDIBLY steamy. Every single image he posts are absolutely breathtaking. Of course I admire the photographic techniques: the lighting, the composition, the poses and the settings, but what I admire the most is the comfort that each of the couples seem to have with him. These couples are not afraid of shedding their clothing, and being affectionate with each other in the nude, all while being photographed. What drew me to photography was photographing connections between people, and capturing the intimate moments of people’s life — like weddings and births. But the majority of the sessions that I photograph are of people who have spent weeks planning their outfits to be perfectly coordinated, and while the connections and relationships are real, the moment is curated. The images that Chuy Photos takes are only of the two people, stripped of the layers that we use to distract us from who we really are, and of the connection we have with our people. His images show us the diversity in our humanness, the beautiful shades that we come in, the range of sizes and differences of our bodies, and the unique, yet similar, ways we show affection to our partners. His images allow the consumer to feel validated and celebrated for who we are, and who other people are. This inspiration is what motivated me to ask Toni (@roamandramblephoto) and her husband Mauro to model for me for this intimate couples session. Toni and Mauro have been together for over a decade and have 3 children together, and have the most deepest, authentic, and vibrant connection of any couple I have photographed. I am grateful to them for baring their bums, and their hearts, for me in this session. I’m looking forward to doing many more intimate couples sessions in the future.
